Senior Festival Reborn

Situation.

The NC Baptist State Convention needed to reinvigorate its Senior Festival, a three-day event open to Baptists from across the state. The Convention heard from previous participants that they wanted to experience something that was more energizing and much more exciting than the past Festivals. Finding a message that could be rolled into a fun event was the challenge.

Solution.

CampCreative realized that Seniors were saying they want to feel better about what they have to offer . . . in other words, they want to feel that they matter. We created a program that was an extension of a statewide mentoring initiative, developing a theme based on the scripture that compels Christians to "let their light shine." Big name entertainers, such as Sandi Patty, George Beverly Shea and more, provided inspiring entertainment. A whole host of speakers from America's Promise and state agencies implored the participants to get up, get out and use their talents and experience to make a difference.

Results.

Participants heard the message and responded, signing up to help various mentoring causes and pledging their support in other ways. Exit interviews with participants were overwhelmingly positive, and the Seniors polled said that they looked forward to the next Festival. They had seen the light!
