Non-Profit Rescued!

Situation.

SciWorks, the not-for-profit science and environmental park of Forsyth County, had a problem. Because of extensive renovation, the entire park would need to close and the center would need to lay off its entire staff. Worse yet, the museum had made a commitment to a traveling display that it now could not house.

Solution.

Hanes Mall came to the rescue, developing a comprehensive program built around a traveling display of robotic dinosaurs called "Make tracks to the dinosaurs!" Hanes Mall found a way to house the dinosaur display and provide offices for the entire SciWorks staff during the nine-month renovation. The program included a full range of special events and fund raising activities, including the DinoClub for Kids, EGGStravanganza Celebrity Egg Auction and various advertising efforts developed to support each event.

Results.

Visitation at the display topped 180,000 nearly three times the annual visitation at the science park. And, the science center retained its entire staff in a remote location until the new center opened. Fundraising events supplied nearly half of SciWorks' annual budget. Making tracks to the dinosaurs kept SciWorks moving.
